Regular pop-up clinics providing COVID-19 vaccination advice for pregnant women, people and new mums taking place in Essex

Anyone who is pregnant, new mums and their partners can find out more about COVID-19 vaccination, ask an expert any questions they may have and receive the vaccine on the day, thanks to a series of regular pop-up clinics taking place across Essex.

As we head back to ‘normal’ following recent changes to self-isolating and testing, COVID-19 is still very much around and continues to pose a serious risk to unvaccinated expectant and new mums.

From this week on and until further notice, anyone attending an antenatal or postnatal clinic at the following hospitals can speak to an expert about a range of topics including vaccine safety, the effect on them and their unborn baby, or simply find out more about the vaccinations available:

Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford
Antenatal clinic (room A401)
Every Monday and Wednesday, 8:00am – 6:00pm

Basildon Hospital
Antenatal clinic reception (next to room 494)
Every Wednesday and Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm

Southend Hospital
Second floor next to the maternity entrance
Every Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00am – 6:00pm

Gemma Hickford, Consultant Midwife, Mid and South Essex Local Maternity and Neonatal System said:

“We know that not everyone who is pregnant, or a new mum feel ready to have the COVID-19 vaccine, despite the proven risk the virus poses to them and their unborn baby. That’s why we’ve set up extra clinics where you can simply pop in for an informal chat before or after your antenatal or postnatal appointment.

Our team of staff are on hand to answer your vaccine questions, dispel some of the myths and provide advice on vaccinations in general. Anyone who decides they want to receive their COVID-19 vaccine, can have it there and then. If their partner is unvaccinated and is accompanying them on the day, they can also have theirs if they wish.”

More information for anyone who is eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine can be found online on our COVID-19 Vaccine Information for Essex page.
